What is a dietitian
A dietitian can help with a wide variety of dietary concerns by providing advice on meal planning, foods, health goals and food preferences. Dietitians recommend eating a wide variety of foods each day – that’s smart eating.

A dietitian will help you to construct a smart meal plan that incorporates a balanced approach to eating, incorporating a balance of fat, protein and carbohydrates, as well as an understanding of portion sizes and portion control.  Seeing a dietitian is not about having to "cut out all the yummy food" it is about understanding that everything should be eaten in moderation.  It is about balance.

We will work with you to tailor a healthy eating plan to meet your specific needs, and will work together with your GP and other practitioners.

Food Intolerance's

Intolerance's to food are more common than true allergic reactions to food, particularly for adults. They are sometimes called ‘pharmacological reactions to foods’, ‘food sensitivities’ or ‘food intolerance's’.

Food intolerance can be caused by chemicals that are found naturally in foods or by chemicals that are added to foods. The only way to find the foods responsible for food intolerance is to follow a diet and challenging procedure carefully supervised by an Accredited Practicing Dietitian.

There are many different symptoms of food intolerance. These may include:

  • hives (or rashes) and/or swellings
  • headaches and migraine
  • stomach and/or bowel upsets
  • Bloating or gas
  • sinus and/or breathing problems

If you are presenting any of these symptoms then our dietitian can help you to identify if you have any allergies or intolerance's to food.  You may require a blood test to find out more information, our dietitians can advise if this is necessary.
